ReviewsdayTuesday: The Divergent Trilogy

In this video last week, Hank Green proposed the idea of 'ReviewsdayTuesday', where on Tuesday you post a picture of a book and give a short review. Well, here at London Loveiosa we love books, so we'll be taking it in turns to review the books we have been reading!

First up the 'Divergent' Trilogy (Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant) by Veronica Roth;

A female hero, society separated into separate factions and a dystopian view of the future. Throw the upcoming movie franchise into the mix, and it’s easy to see where all the comparisons to the Hunger Games have come from, but the similarities really do end there.

We start the book with our heroine, Beatrice Prior, as she prepares to make the decision that will decide whether to stay with her parents in their faction, the selfless Abnegation, or whether to abandon her family for a new life in one of the four other factions, Candor, Dauntless, Amity or Erudite.
The action in this trilogy is non-stop, taking twists and turns faster than you can read, making it a real page turner that is almost impossible to put down, but the true strength of these novels is surely the characters. Headed up by Beatrice, the crowd of supporting characters flesh out this dim future world of factions, driving the action with such force and keeping the reader truly invested. Even when the action may take one twist too many, the incredible character writing is enough to keep you engaged and identifying with the events taking place.
While the Divergent Trilogy may not be a modern masterpiece, it’s engaging nature and high paced action make the three books a very easy and satisfying read. I know I’m looking forward to the movie release on April 4th!
